Desperate Housewives Goes 1950’s

Eva Longoria Parker, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, Dana Delaney, and Nicolette Sheridan, the stars of everyone’s favorite Sunday night drama, Desperate Housewives, posed pinup-style, for the latest cover of TV Guide in very sexy and revealing retro fashion from the 1950’s, said a recent Trendhunter article.

What do you think of the 50’s retro?  Good promotion for the season premiere?

The show will go into its fifth season with the first episode airing on September 28th; TOMORROW. The new season will present a very confusing turn of events when the cast is hurled five years into the future. What do all you dedicated Housewives watchers think of this turn of events?

“The creator of Desperate Housewives,” says TV Guide, “will send his show hurtling half a decade into the future when it returns for its fifth season on September 28. It’s a rare and radical shake-up for a hit TV series—and also pretty weird since none of the ladies will visibly age,” TV Guide said.

So what are your thoughts?

What do you think of the TV Guide retro pinup idea?

What do you think is in store for the Desperate Housewives this season?

Check out some of the other shots from TV Guide:

The Lunch Battle is Over

In the UK this past June, these Burger King ads depict moms as samurai warriors and knights and is providing assurance that the lunch battle is over.

Trendhunter says the reasoning behind the ads can be contributed, “… to the new BK Angus Mini-Burgers, a perennial kid favorite that is prepared with quality that any mom can feel good about, moms can now enjoy a peaceful battle-free day.”

How great are these ads?  They are hilarious; they catch your eye; they make sense; and they are creative.  The samurai outfit and knight armor are very creatively created out of cooking and kitchen tools.

What do you think of the message involved in these ads?  Does it work the Burger King line?

Do you think they are creative?  Grab your attention?

Blondes, Boobs and Brilliant: 3 Playboy Ads that Catch Your Eye

Playboy is known for beautiful women.  Blonde women with big boobs to be exact.

When we think of Playboy we also think of Hugh Hefner, The Girls Next Door, and of course beautiful women with blonde hair and big boobs.

But do you ever think of the advertiseing that has been done for Playboy?

Check out the following three ads that have been brilliantly created to sell Playboy and its beautiful women.

1. Men Love to Read

Who says men don’t like to read?  Well this print ad uses dozens of women to prove that men really do like to read!

2. Lay Down.

These towels made for a great promotion when women laid on them to enjoy the summer sun.

3. Online. Subtle?

This is a viral ad that was used on the internet to direct consumers to the Playboy website. All it does is show the image of a woman’s hand on a computer mouse, right? Or is it more than that?

What do you think of these three ads?  Which is your favorite?

What other Playboy promotions have you seen and enjoyed?

At this point, does Playboy even need to advertise and promote?  Or are they so well know already?

What are your thoughts?

The Most Outrageous Wedding Gowns Ever

I know this is supposed to be all about outrageous, creative and attention grabbing advertising, but I have sound some of the most creative wedding dresses in the last weeks that I thought I should share!  As someone planning a wedding, weddings, parties, dresses and vows seem to be on my mind quite a bit lately; so welcome to my world :)

These creative works of art are actually marketing for the designers and artists who created them, so I guess it goes along with our advertising and marketing theme!

1. It’s all about the rubber.

British artist Susie MacMurray designed this wedding gown from 1,400 inverted rubber gloves.  The dress will become to be displayed in New York’s Museum of Art and Design’s new exhibition called “Second Lives: Remixing the Ordinary” in September 2008. The exhibit is about wedding gowns, but it showcases the work of over 50 artists who highlight how recycled, discarded, mass-produced objects can be works of art.

In this case, it turned out to be one heck of a wedding gown!

2. A little less class and a lot more pop.

BubbleBodyWear takes the hard to resist product and created one classy and sassy bubble wrap wedding gown with this one!

3. Always use protection!

To promote AIDS awareness day, a New York City designer created this wedding gown made of 12,500 condoms a few years ago.

What do you think of these off the wall wedding gowns?

Are they attention grabbers?  Are they good publicity for the designers?

Not Your Typical Subway Campaign

Normally when we talk about subway advertising campaigns, it either has to do with a foot long sandwich (just kidding).

In all seriousness when I normally find outrageously creative subway advertising, it is actually designed on the outside of the actual subway bus, advertising on the shelters you wait in for the next train to come or super creative advertising in the subway such as on the handles, the windows, the ceilings, pretty much anywhere!

This campaign, however, uses the subway in a whole different “fashion.”

The following series of ads are for the new Fall 2008 ad campaign for Alberta Ferretti. Ferretti is a world renown Italian designer and dressmaker.

The ads show the four models, Anna Maria Jagodzinska, Magdalena Frackowiak, Siri Tollerod, and Viktoriya Sasonkina, hanging out in a virtually empty subway train, looking tired and bored but of course fabulous.

The campaign was brilliantly photographed by renowned fashion photographer Steven Meisel.

What do you think of the campaign?  Does the diva on the subway grab your attention?

Good use of the subway?

Is it an appropriate fit for Ferretti’s amazing work?

Jessica Simpson Promotes Beer

I read about this all over MSNBC last week and I didn’t really think anything of it; but apparently it has caused quite the gossip and discussion having Jessica Simpson be the spokeswoman for a beer called Stampeded Light Plus.

Jessica is already known as a singer, a dancer, an actress (those Daisy Dukes meant something!), Proactiv spokesperson, designer, entrepreneur, and now this! According to a recent Trendhunter article, “Simpson is part of Stampede Brewing Co. Inc.’s “Drink Smart Campaign”, aimed at health conscious Americans.  Stampede Light Beer is, according to the company’s website, made from mountain spring water, German Hops, and malted barley… grown in the USA.  It is also “infused” with Vitamin B and other natural antioxidants.”

jess.jpeg

The article continued, Stampede’s maker, health and fitness expert, Lawrence Schwartz says that he wanted a beer marketed for those who care about themselves, “like us” (meaning people like Jessica Simpson and all other humans who make fitness a priority in their lives).

So, what are your thoughts?

What do you think of the beer first off?  Ever heard of it?  Ever had it?

And then what are your thoughts on Jessica Simpson as the spokeswoman?  Good fit?  Will it help sell the beer?

I am personally impartial on the whole thing…I’m not one who purchases products based on the spokesperson and nothing about the ad actually jumps out and grabs me.  I’m curious what others think!

Online Dating Promo

How do you feel about online dating?  Does it work? Did you meet your partner through an online service?  How did you hear about the service you used?  Are the typical TV commercials effective enough for you to try a new site?

Trendhunter recently gave a synopsis of a micro site developed to promote an online dating service called Mingle.  It was nice for me to see something beyond the perfect compatibility, blah, blah, blah, we match you up with your soul mate, blah, blah, blah television commercials.

The microsite to promote the new dating service, and of course to bring some humor to the whole online dating situation Check out the site: Ten Reasons Why it is Cool to Date a Unicorn here.

What’s an Acai Berry?

What’s an Acai Berry?

Well, because someone in my home is addicted to the very expensive berry and juice, I have gotten pretty familiar with it, and apparently the rest of the world is jumping on the Acai Berry movement as well.

Benefits of the berry include that it supports digestive functions and supports the heart, immune system and prostate; it boots energy and sexual stamina and is packed full of vitamins and minerals as well as fiber and protein, Trendhunter explains.

And people are making money off of the berry! Monavie is a very potent Acai berry juice that is VERY rich in antioxidants and the brand is using great packaging to sell the juice. The brand sells the juice in both a gel form and liquid juice.

Both versions of the packaging of the product make the juice look just like a bottle of red wine.

acai.jpeg

acai2.jpeg

It’s important to point out that there are two variations of MonaVie, only one of which is suitable for kids and expecting mothers. The one that is not is MonaVie Active, a mixture geared toward athletes and those suffering with arthritis as it’s high in qualities like glucosamine, the article described.

What do you think of the packaging?  Would it make you want to buy the juice?  If you are already a Acai Berry believer would you but this juice based on the packaging?

What other fruit juice packaging have you seen that is attractive to the eye?  And were they good promotion of the product?

Fun with Cartoons!

Not sure how many of you have seen this ad campaign from Dove, but I thought it would be a fun one to share this weekend!

This campaign from Dove was to promote their new line of products with the message: Unstick Your Style.

The new products include:

Volumizing Mousse for New Movement in Hair.  Perfect for Wilma Flinstone!

The Golden Magazine

The Golden Magazine will be hitting newsstands soon!

No, this is not the title of the magazine and no, this is not the newest “must read” magazine.

Kohl magazine will celebrate it’s launch with a cover that actually includes 91 grams of gold and 622 diamonds on the cover. And Katrina Kaif is the lucky and beautiful model who will be gracing the cover of this launch issue.

According to Trendhunter, it is estimated that this one magazine will cost $10,000 to produce!!

Kohl magazine is the UAE’s first and only women’s lifestyle and fashion monthly catering to intelligent and educated Asian women between the ages of 25 - 40, said a recent article at ArabianBusiness.com .

kohl.jpeg

The look and design of the Kohl magazine cover was created by Damas, an exclusive jewelry designer and manufacturer. Not only is the cost of the magazine astronomical but the cover actually took over 86 hours to make!

The magazine will not literally be hitting newsstands but it will be on display at various locations before going up for auction to benefit a charity.

What do you think?

Sounds to me like a pretty good, and pretty expensive, PR move! Talk about great publicity!
