The Most Outrageous Wedding Gowns Ever

I know this is supposed to be all about outrageous, creative and attention grabbing advertising, but I have sound some of the most creative wedding dresses in the last weeks that I thought I should share!  As someone planning a wedding, weddings, parties, dresses and vows seem to be on my mind quite a bit lately; so welcome to my world :)

These creative works of art are actually marketing for the designers and artists who created them, so I guess it goes along with our advertising and marketing theme!

1. It’s all about the rubber.

British artist Susie MacMurray designed this wedding gown from 1,400 inverted rubber gloves.  The dress will become to be displayed in New York’s Museum of Art and Design’s new exhibition called “Second Lives: Remixing the Ordinary” in September 2008. The exhibit is about wedding gowns, but it showcases the work of over 50 artists who highlight how recycled, discarded, mass-produced objects can be works of art.

In this case, it turned out to be one heck of a wedding gown!

2. A little less class and a lot more pop.

BubbleBodyWear takes the hard to resist product and created one classy and sassy bubble wrap wedding gown with this one!

3. Always use protection!

To promote AIDS awareness day, a New York City designer created this wedding gown made of 12,500 condoms a few years ago.

What do you think of these off the wall wedding gowns?

Are they attention grabbers?  Are they good publicity for the designers?

Flavored Beer Goes to the Next Level

I thought it was just Corona and Bud Light Lime in the world of flovored beer, but apparently I was all wrong!

In a recent article by Trendhunter, the article showcases 10 outrageously flavored beer.  Read the full article here!

Some of my favorites discussed in the article are below.  Well, I am not sure if you can call them favorites, because I’m not sure I would even have the guts to taste them!

1.  Banana

British company, Wells has a banana bread flavored beer out that is dark amber red in color and apparently has a honey sweet taste.  And now, that I have move passed the idea of outrageously flavored beer, such as banana bread, I am of course drawn to the packaging.  What do you think of the label?  Would you try the beer?

2. Pizza

Mama Mia’s Pizza Beer is claiming their product to be “the world’s first culinary beer.”  Not only is this beer supposed to have delicious flavor for drinking, but it’s also supposed to be great for cooking. This is one I can’t even imagine the taste of!  You? What do you think of the labeling for the Mama Mia’s beer?

These are just two of my favorites. Make sure you check out the rest at Trendhunter!

Do you think these are high selling products for the companies?  Would you taste them?

Roberto Cavalli Does Diet

The newest designs at Milan Fashion Week this year aren’t dresses, hats or boots for Italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli.

Instead Cavalli used his talent to design a line of limited edition Coca-Cola Light bottle skins.

The three different bottle designs are decorated in exotic animal prints. One is a leopard print, another zebra, and the third a jungle-like heart design with a tiger-zebra hybrid print, describes a recent Trendhunter article.

Only 300,000 Roberto Cavalli coke bottles were made as a special tribute to mark the start of Milan Fashion Week, the article read.

For those of you who don’t know fashion, “Cavalli is most widely known throughout the art and fashion worlds as a gifted leather designer. Through the combination of lightweight leather and paints, Cavalli created a new frontier of fashion. Known at patchworks, Cavalli created pieces that would later become revered as pure classics,” said Lifeinitaly.com

What do you think of Cavalli’s talents in the soda bottle design category?

What do you think of the idea of the limited edition soda bottles? Was this effective marketing for Coca-Cola Light?

Take it to the Corn Field

Is McDonald’s trying to break a Guinness Book World Record? Maybe!

And they may be doing it with their newest advertising message.

The current record holder for corn mazes is 40 acres and McDonald’s newest ad is 42.6 acres.

McDonald’s cut out this giant maze in a cornfield in the middle of Nebraska to advertise its line of coffee.

The maze is open to the public and as Adweek reads, “Most visitors will take 45 to 90 minutes to navigate each phase of the maze; and of course, will leave with a courtesy coupon for a free latte, mocha or cappuccino specialty coffee from McDonald’s.”

What do you think of this technique? Is it effective? Will people visit the maze?

Have you seen any other companies use this method of advertising?

Changes in Victoria’s Secret Market…and How They’re Combating Decreased Sales

With sales down 7% from last quarter, how is Victoria’s Secret going to continue to survive this so-called “recession?”

logo_lg.jpg

Never fear. They have a plan.

The company is taking the sub-brand, Pink, which accounts for approximately 17% of the retailer’s total sales last year, according to Ad Age, to the college crowd that favors it. They are introducing the Collegiate Collection of licensed T-shirts, sweats, totes and underwear for 33 universities, ranging from the University of Michigan to Texas A&M to Harvard.

The launch of the new Pink line will take a grass roots approach and be promoted by a campus tour program and paid collegiate brand ambassadors to help in reaching the 18-22 year old target audience.

Other campus involvement includes the students handling the brand’s new Recycle Your Sweats program, placing bins on campus for donations of used clothing. “They’ll also be responsible for promoting the arrival of Pink’s pop-up store, a wrapped Airstream bought on eBay. The students will even embark on business trips, traveling to six college football games, where they’ll help promote various game-day events for the brand,” the Ad Age article stated.

What do you think of this idea? And the use of college campuses to make a successful program?

Well, as of now, only one college is against the idea. The University of Minnesota is trying to pull out of the promotional campaign, because of “Victoria’s Secret’s reputation;” the University of Minnesota items, however, are still available on the Pink website.

What do you think of the idea? What are your thoughts if you are a college student and in the target market? How about if you are not in the target market; what do you think?

Wine on Wheels

According to Trendhunter, Aznom, an Italian company, is “tricking out” 12 Mini cars in a project called Chateau Mini. The Mini Chateau, based on the Mini Clubman S, made its world debut at the recent Top Marques show in Monaco and created quite a buzz!

car2.jpeg

Each Mini is actually a mobile wine cellar that can hold six bottles of wine and six wine glasses. These customized cars are designed to look wooden, including a wood veneer finish, aged gaucho leather, and brownish paint throughout the interior and exterior.

car1.jpegcar3.jpeg

Only twelve lucky owners will be able to drive one of these mobile wine cellars!

What do you think of the Minis? Is it a good promotion for Aznom, who is known for other luxury items?

What do you think about the sending of a drinking and driving message with the vehicles?
